A former restaurant in one of Hull’s busiest streets is back in business after Garness Jones helped the building’s new owners agree a lease with a restaurateur who was looking to develop his business.
Paul White, Agency Director at Garness Jones, said the opening of Robin’s Oak Steak & Wines is a sign of growing confidence in Princes Avenue.
Paul said: “The level of interest we received shows that Princes Avenue is still a busy area and is very much in demand. Along with Newland Avenue and the city centre there are some excellent destination locations which offer a great mix of food and drink options for the day time and evening economy.”
The building at 93 Princes Avenue became available after the closure of Fudge, a popular restaurant with a baker next door which is still operating. Garness Jones sold the building to a private investor in November 2017 and weeks later agreed a 15-year lease with Ricardo Georghita, whose family has a history of running restaurants and who was looking to build on the success of his café in Holderness Road, Hull.
Ricardo told the Hull Daily Mail that he plans to open Robin’s Oak Steak & Wines in early February, creating eight jobs and offering space for up to 70 people in a restaurant which will have a vintage and rustic feel.
Paul said: “There was strong interest in the property from other parties but Ricardo had some capital to invest and he was very efficient in his discussions with us, which was a key factor in agreeing the deal so quickly.
“His family history is all about restaurants and they saw this as an opportunity to move up to higher quality cuisine. They have a strong pedigree in that sector and we hope they will do very well here.”
