A company which in 2017 completed 10 years of providing IT support to businesses across the region is set to expand its team and its services with a move to a new home.
Jupiter IT will leave the former bakery in Hull which has been its home for the last seven years next month and relocate to a high-profile site at Hessle.
Dan Gladstone, the company’s Infrastructure Director, said: “We’ve been winning more business and securing bigger clients – often through recommendation – and we need more people. Bringing them into our existing office would make the place very cosy to say the least.”
Garness Jones were instructed to look for new premises and came up with Shirethorn House, which has almost 60,000 vehicles passing its doorstep every day. The firm is also marketing Jupiter’s current premises in the busy retail area of Chanterlands Avenue, Hull.
Paul White, Agency Director at Garness Jones, said: “There is increasing demand for better quality working environments and there is limited availability. One result of that is that some people are building their own premises, and we’ve seen examples of that in recent months. Another is that when properties do become available they are snapped up quickly.
“Shirethorn House is in a highly-visible location which will give Jupiter IT greater recognition and commercial presence than the site in Chanterlands Avenue. It also has a more modern, open plan design which is a great fit with their team ethos.
“The building is ideal for the needs of Jupiter at this stage of their development and their current premises present a great opportunity for another small business which is looking to expand. It should also appeal to the food and retail sectors as a former bakery which is in a busy location with steady footfall and a lively, proactive community of traders.”
Jupiter was launched in 2007. Dan, Technical Director Iain Powell and Operations Director Craig Paul drew on the experience and ethics from their years working on IT in the NHS to offer services to the private sector.
Early in 2017 they secured accreditation to the Government’s Cyber Essentials scheme, a move which has boosted turnover by 30 per cent and enhanced their specialised data security capabilities in readiness for the introduction in May this year of the General Data Protection Regulation. Dan said: “There are seven of us and we have a new recruit joining us very soon. In the longer term we expect to increase the team to at least 10 by the end of this year, including an apprentice who we intend to bring in during the summer.
“With more space and more people, we will be able to provide additional services. The new location is ideal and will help us expanding geographically, with easier access to customers elsewhere in the region and across the Humber Bridge.”
